Bernhard Mann (sociologist)

Bernhard Mann (born December 3, 1950 in Stuttgart ) is a German health and social scientist, professor for health and social management i. R. and associate member at the Institute for Sociology, University of Koblenz-Landau, Campus Koblenz. In the context of public health and sociology, he carried out studies on health sociology , social gerontology and application-oriented research .

Life

Bernhard Mann was a cultural advisor , political advisor and school prefect during his school days . In the student essay competition of the President of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg , he received a second prize. He undertook several study visits to Wilhering Abbey . On the occasion of the World Exhibition in Japan in 1970, Bernhard Mann was a delegate of the German Youth with a reception by the Japanese Crown Prince Akihito , the 125th Emperor of Japan ( Tennō ). From 1972 to 1974 he received grants from the World Council of Churches for a social engagement in Birmingham , England .

After graduating from high school in Stuttgart, he studied social sciences at the Universities of Göttingen and Erlangen-Nuremberg with a focus on law , economics , social policy , sociology and medical sociology. His diploma thesis with the sociologist Gerhard Wurzbacher was published in the Studies on Political Didactics Vol. 9 and in the International Studies in Political Socialization and Political Education Vol. 8 . Mann acquired the academic degree of a Diplom-Sozialwirt and did his doctorate with Reinhard Schmitz-Scherzer and Erhard Olbrich in social planning and gerontology. Postgraduate studies in population medicine and public health at the Hannover Medical School ; the master's thesis was supervised by the social medicine specialist Friedrich-Wilhelm Schwartz and the medical sociologist Johann Jürgen Rohde . He was a research assistant at the University of Konstanz . In addition to Wurzbacher, well-known academic teachers were: Karl Gustav Specht , his first doctoral supervisor who died during his doctorate, Friedrich Heckmann (sociologist) and Friedrich-Wilhelm Schwartz.

Bernhard Mann lives in the medieval cultural town of Unkel on the Rhine . He has been involved in civic activities, was from 1989 to 1992 and 1995 to 1999 as an honorary judge for asylum and Social Law on Administrative Court Ansbach and Public Law at the Cologne Administrative Court and as a council member of the Association council Unkel a. Rh. Active.

Act

Mann's areas of work include general sociology , social structure analysis, aging, health, medical and rehabilitation sociology , sociological counseling , public health and social gerontology. He was head of the psychosocial counseling center for political refugees , social planner for the care of elderly disabled people in the Diakonisches Werk Bayern (social services department - Eckhard Steinhaeuser ). Mann taught the focus on "Social Gerontology" in adult education .

University teaching

After working as a research assistant at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, for the Federal Ministry of Health , at the Federal Government's First Elderly Report and as a postdoc at the Universities of Bremen , Konstanz and Bonn, Mann taught health management as a professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Bamberg - University from 2012 of Applied Sciences and Health and Social Management as a professor at the FHM - University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld - University of Applied Sciences . Mann has been retired since 2016, he continues to teach and supervise scientific work at several universities, such as in Bochum , Düsseldorf , Heidelberg and Wuppertal as well as at the IESS - Institut Européen des Sciences de la Santé Casablanca, Maroc .

Mann conducted lectures as a lecturer and lecturer at the universities of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Konstanz , Bonn and Koblenz-Landau. Willy Brandt Forum Unkel

Willy Brandt lived in Unkel from 1979 until his death in 1992 . In respect of his outstanding political achievement, a community foundation founded the Willy Brandt Forum . Bernhard Mann has been involved in museum support in the Willy Brandt Forum since 2018.
