The Chicago Open Air is an American rock and metal festival that has been held since 2016 . Contrary to its name, it does not take place in Chicago , but in the suburb of Bridgeview , Illinois . The venue is SeatGeek Stadium , formerly known as Toyota Park . The festival is organized by the Danny Wimmer Presents company , which also organizes the Aftershock , Epicenter , Louder Than Life , Welcome to Rockville and many others festivals. The festival started as a three day event with two stages. After the festival had to be canceled in 2018, it was continued as a two-day event with a stage in 2019.
