German Olympic qualification 1960 / Summer Games / Athletics

This article describes the results of the elimination competitions in athletics for the formation of the all-German team at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome .

The athletics eliminations were carried out on the model of the US trials. They took place over two weekends in July and August. On July 16, the 50 km competition was held on the road from Dresden via Meißen to Zehren and back. The next day there was a marathon from Dresden to Meißen and back. On the same weekend, the competitions in the 10,000-meter run and in the decathlon took place in the Willy Sachs Stadium in Schweinfurt . The remaining competitions were on 7 August in the Lower Saxony Stadium in Hanover on August 8 in George Dimitroff Stadium in Erfurt held. The two delegations traveled in "separate motor coaches" from Hanover to Erfurt.
