Etah ( Hindi : एटा ज़िला) is a district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
Etah is located to the west of Uttar Pradesh in the Aligarh division . The district lies between the rivers of Ganges in the north and Yamuna in the south. District capital is Etah . The district covers 2,431 km².

The population of Etah was 1,774,480 in the 2011 census. Ten years earlier it was 1,561,705. The gender ratio was 873 women for 1,000 men. The literacy rate was 70.81% (81.28% for men, 58.80% for women). 90.79% of the population were Hindu , 8.25% Muslim .
