The Evangelical University of Ludwigsburg is a state-recognized denominational university for social work , diakonia and religious education with its headquarters in Ludwigsburg and a branch on the Reutlingen campus . The sponsor is the Evangelical Church in Württemberg . Norbert Collmar has been the rector since October 1, 2007.
Origins of the FH
The denominational training in social affairs began at state-approved schools:
In Ludwigsburg at the Higher Technical School for Welfare Care (1951, among other things from the Diakonie Anstalt Karlshöhe ), later Higher Technical School for Social Work, under the sponsorship of the regional church.
In Reutlingen at the Evangelical School for Home Education (1954), from 1963 as Evangelical Higher Technical School for Social Pedagogy, under the sponsorship of a Protestant association.
From college to college
The Evangelical Regional Church in Württemberg had two universities until the summer semester of 1998: the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences in Reutlingen and the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigsburg, which emerged in 1994 from the “Church Training Center for Diaconia and Religious Education”. At the autumn synod of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg in 1998 , it was decided to merge the two universities of applied sciences at the Ludwigsburg location. As an interim solution, the Reutlingen location was retained until the 2003 summer semester so that the students could finish their studies where they had started and, above all, under the same conditions as they had started. Because both universities of applied sciences had their own and different StuPO (study and examination regulations). Since the winter semester 2003 only the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences Reutlingen-Ludwigsburg existed, with its seat in Ludwigsburg. After the introduction of the bachelor's and master's degree courses, the EFH became the Evangelical University of Ludwigsburg on September 1, 2008 . The Social Work course has also been offered at a branch office on the Reutlingen university campus since April 2018 .

- Early childhood education and upbringing (in cooperation with the Ludwigsburg University of Education )
- Inclusive education and curative education
- Nursing : This bachelor's degree combines training in health and nursing (in cooperation with the Protestant Education Center Stuttgart) or geriatric care (in cooperation with the Diakonisches Institut Dornstadt) with a university degree. Thus, two degrees are acquired: as a health care worker or geriatric nurse and a Bachelor of Arts. The EH cooperates with care facilities for this course

- Diaconal Studies and Social Work (up to the winter semester 2012/13: Social Work and Diaconal Studies)

The double Bachelor's degree in these programs allows the consecration in the office of deaconess or the deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Württemberg .

Teaching quality
Around 40 professors and around 70 lecturers stand for innovative, research-oriented teaching. In addition to lectures, many different seminars and other events are offered, which vary from smaller to larger study groups. In 2016, numerous positions were created for the expansion of e-learning models. This enables individual learning and the provision of academic achievements, both on campus and from home.

College life
A university's own admission procedure applies to all courses. The application process takes place online. Over 120 dormitory spaces in the immediate vicinity of the campus with manageable flat-sharing communities combine living and learning. An extensive library, cafeteria, events organized by the university community , sports activities and a group of toddlers enrich and facilitate studies. Numerous actions by the General Student Committee (AStA) provide impetus: University café, campus libertatis, AStA exams, solidarity funds. In addition, there are the services of the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart.
Inclusion and diversity
The work is determined by the evangelical profile and the openness to people with other religions, orientations and worldviews . Questions of inclusion and diversity are cross-sectional tasks for all university members. The content is deepened in working groups and various additional offers are designed for diversity at the retail outlet. These include, for example, Unlimited and Bunt fürs Leben.
tuition fee
The tuition fees introduced in 2007 by the then Baden-Württemberg state government, consisting of the CDU and FDP, were abolished in 2012 by the then newly elected green-red state government. The Evangelical University of Ludwigsburg has therefore stopped charging tuition fees since 2013. However, there is an obligation for students to pay an enrollment or re-registration fee every semester.
