The SRH Hochschule Heidelberg is a state-recognized private university of the SRH Group .

history

The university began operations on October 1, 1969 as an “institution for the vocational rehabilitation of people with disabilities in tertiary education”. In 1991 the college was opened to private customers. Since then, the proportion of students with disabilities has decreased to around 5%.

In 2004 the university was accredited by the Science Council . In the same year she moved from the Heidelberg-Wieblingen industrial park to the Science Tower on the SRH campus.

In 2007 the university was renamed SRH Hochschule Heidelberg - State Recognized University of SRH Hochschulen gGmbH and in 2009 the institutional re-accreditation by the Science Council took place. In this context, however, it was criticized that the "sponsoring company [...] had far-reaching opportunities to exert influence on the university" and that "the academic core area of the university [...] must be granted greater independence".

The first International Week with 20 international lecturers, 80 international and approx. 100 German students took place in 2010. In 2010 the university passed the mark from 2000 to 2300 students. The Faculty of Applied Psychology as the sixth faculty was founded in 2011.

In October 2012 the university reached the 3000 student mark. For the first time, a two-week preliminary module will be carried out for all beginners. The university's new study model was then introduced: the CORE principle without frontal teaching .
