The 1973/74 season was the 75th edition of the French Rugby Union Championship. It comprised 32 teams in the top division (today's top 14 ).
The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group stage, in which eight teams played against each other in four groups. The six best-placed teams in each group made it to the knockout round, as did the eight best teams in Division B. This was followed by the sixteenth, eighth, quarter and semi-finals. In the final, which took place for the first time on May 12, 1974 in the Parc des Princes in Paris , the two semi-final winners met and played for the Bouclier de Brennus . The AS Béziers prevailed against the RC Narbonne and won the championship title for the fourth time.
