Lengenbostel is a municipality in Lower Saxony in the Sittensen municipality in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district . In addition to the main town of Lengenbostel, the town of Freetz also belongs to the municipality.

history

In the municipality there are several Neolithic finds of hearth pits and urn grave fields, dating from around 2000 BC. Come from BC.

The place Freetz is mentioned for the first time in 1263 as tho dem Fredesloh . In 2013, the village celebrated an anniversary year on the occasion of the 750th anniversary with various events.

More recently, several skeletons of fossil Miocene whales have been found in the mica clay pit in Freetz .

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the previously independent communities Lengenbostel and Freetz were merged as part of the community reform. Freetz had been independent since 1949, while it had previously belonged to Kalbe since 1848 .

The place is directly on the A1 , to which it is connected via the Sittensen junction. There is also a daily bus to Sittensen with further connections to Hamburg or Bremen.

Activities and associations

The community has two active volunteer fire brigades and offers various groups a roof for activities in the rooms of their village community centers.
