The Football Oberliga Nord 1983/84 was the tenth season of the third-class Oberliga Nord run by the North German Football Association .
For the second time since 1982 , the Werder Bremen amateurs secured the championship title, two points ahead of defending champions FC St. Pauli . Since Bremen were not eligible for promotion as an amateur team, the third-placed SV Lurup , who had been promoted from last year, took part in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga in addition to St. Pauli . There St. Pauli took second place in the northern group and rose to the second division. Lurup, however, was fifth and remained in the league.
Master Bremen took part in the amateur championship finals, in which they failed in the semifinals at SC Eintracht Hamm .
The SV Union Salzgitter and previous year's climbers Eintracht Braunschweig amateurs descended into the respective subordinate leagues . In return, Altona 93 and Hummelsbütteler SV rose to the Oberliga Nord for the following season . With the VfL Osnabrück came a relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga.
