Halltal is a former municipality with 321 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2014) in the judicial district of Bruck an der Mur and in the political district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag in Styria . Since 2015 it has been incorporated into the municipality of Mariazell as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria, together with the previously independent municipalities of Gußwerk and Sankt Sebastian .
geography
Halltal is located in the valley of the same name east of Mariazell . The Salza flows through the village . The Hubertussee is located near Halltal in the Walster Valley .
The place name is a typical Hall name for salt production.

The place is part of the Leader region Mariazellerland – Mürz Valley and a member of the Agenda 21 and tourism region Mariazeller Land , whose Styrian communities also form the Regionext-Kleinregion of the name.
Culture and sights
Personalities
In the village of Freingraben came the Styrian dialect poet Martha Wölger , born on August 4th, 1920 . Goldgruber was born in Halltal on March 15, 1937 Otto Strohmaier , Benedictine abbot of St. Lambrecht, was born.
