Harvey [ ˈhɑːvɪ ] is an old English male given name. The name first appeared in Britain after the Norman invasion and was revived in the 19th century.

origin

The name comes from the Breton Huiarnuiu (French Hervé ) with the two old Breton components hoiarn, huiarn "iron" and vui, uiu "shiny".

Variations

Harve , Harvee , Harvie , Harvy , Hervey and the short forms Herv , Herve and Harv . The French equivalent of Harvey is Hervé .
