The Honda Beat is the Japanese carmaker Honda between May 1991 and February 1996-built roadster the kei car class. It is based on parts of the Honda Today and was only available in Japan.
The Honda beat is with a 656 cc large three-cylinder gasoline engine (64 hp) with 47 kW at 7800 min -1 equipped. Its intake system is called MTREC (Multi Throttle Responsive Engine Control) and has an air collector and a separate throttle valve for each cylinder. The engine is located in front of the rear axle ( mid-engine ) and its power is transmitted to the rear axle. It was only available with manual transmission.
The Honda Beat and Suzuki Cappuccino were together the first roadsters in the tax-privileged kei car class in Japan in the early 1990s. A total of 33,600 vehicles were produced. In 2003, Daihatsu took up this concept again with the Daihatsu Copen .
With the S660 , Honda has been selling a roadster in kei-car format since April 2015 .
