The Honda Accord is a mid-size car from the Japanese car manufacturer Honda . The fourth generation appeared in the fall of 1989. The sedan was replaced in the late summer of 1993, while the station wagon and coupe were available until the summer of 1994.
limousine
In the spring of 1989 the model changed for the Accord in Japan and almost a year later in the rest of the world. The result was perhaps the most elegant and representative sedan of the entire series. This model has won several design awards. The vehicle grew in length and height and got a longer wheelbase. The rather conservative line was underlined in this way.
New engines with 1.8 l, 2.0 l and 2.2 l cubic capacity in various power levels ensured adequate propulsion. The four-wheel steering ( 4WS ) known from the Prelude was also available for this model.
On the Japanese market there was a sister model with more sophisticated equipment, the Ascot . The top model of the Accord series in Japan was the Accord ( Inspire ) with an extended wheelbase and a 5-cylinder engine .
Coupe
At the end of 1990, Honda added a two-door coupé to the series. The vehicle was once again sold in the USA by Honda of America Mfg. developed and also exclusively built there. Initially, only a few hundred American-made vehicles were brought to Germany on a trial basis before the revised model was delivered in early 1992.
The sedan formed the basis of the coupé. The 2.2-l SOHC engine was therefore used as the engine in North America (and initially also in Germany). The Japanese were able to enjoy the 2.0-liter DOHC engine with gasoline injection from the Japanese Accord sedan. After the revision in 1992, only the SOHC engine with 2.0 l displacement was available for the Accord Coupé in Europe.
Aerodeck
In the spring of 1991, Honda added a spacious station wagon to the Accord model range. The vehicle was developed in the USA and also built exclusively there.
The model came to Europe under the name Accord Aerodeck, while it was otherwise sold as the Accord Wagon. The station wagon was based on the sedan. The 2.2-liter engine of the American Accord sedan was therefore initially used as the engine. A 2.0-l SOHC engine was later installed for the European market .
