The US- built Honda Odyssey , sold in Japan under the name Honda Lagreat , received a successor model in 2004, the Honda Elysion . This was presented at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2003 and went on sale in Japan on May 13, 2004.

Compared to its predecessor, the Lagreat, the Elysion is significantly shorter, but has eight seats. The drive is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder K24A (DOHC 160) and the 3.0-liter V6 J30A (250 hp), with the V6 engine using cylinder deactivation.
In addition to electric sliding doors, there are seats that can be rotated 180 degrees for the second row and, optionally, all-wheel drive .
The Elysion was launched in China on June 7, 2012 . It is produced for this market by Dongfeng-Honda . The Odyssey is also available parallel to the Elysion. Honda stopped production and sales in Japan in October 2013, and the vehicle is still being built in China.

The second generation Elysion debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2015 and has been on sale in China since January 9, 2016. It is based on the fifth generation of the Odyssey.
