The first version of the Vamos from 1970 was designed as a recreational vehicle for off-road use. The Vamos was based on the Honda TN 360 , with which it shared the engine and chassis and which he took part in revisions at the same time. The folding top and seating arrangement were extremely variable: two-seater, four-seater and full-top were offered for the doorless vehicle. In return, the interior can only be described as spartan. Up to the end of production in 1973 only 2530 units were made, the lack of popularity may have been due to the lack of all-wheel drive .

And since 2003 there has been a high-roof version called Vamos Hobio , of which, among other things, a limited special model Vamos Hobio Travel Dog for families traveling with dogs was offered. The equipment of the Vamos Hobio Travel Dog was developed on the basis of recommendations from dog owners. Honda has been running a website (written exclusively in Japanese) since 2001 for communication between pet owners about traveling with dogs and cats, e. B. about dog-friendly restaurants and hotels etc. and also about useful facilities in the car. With the Vamos Hobio Travel Dog, these experiences led to special, easy-to-clean floor mats and door panels and an additional heater for the rear seats, in addition to the numerous special fastening hooks and eyelets on the side walls and in the loading area.
