The Honda Brio is a compact car from the Japanese automaker Honda that is sold in India , Thailand , South Africa , Indonesia and the Philippines .

history

Honda showed a first preview of the Brio at the Auto Expo 2010 in New Delhi with the “Honda New Small Concept” vehicle . Production of the series model began in Thailand in March 2011, and the Indian market followed in September 2011. The vehicle has been built in Indonesia since 2013. The Brio went on sale in South Africa in December 2012, and the car has been on sale in the Philippines since September 2014.

The five-door hatchback was developed to offer a vehicle below jazz in emerging countries .

At the Indonesia International Motor Show in April 2016, Honda presented a revised version of the Brio. The update includes, among other things, a new grill, new rear lights, a new dashboard and, with the "Brio RS", a new equipment variant.

Surname

The term "Brio" comes from the Italian language and means "swing" when translated into German .

Sales figures

The Brio was originally supposed to be sold in India in early 2011. Due to the Tōhoku earthquake in 2011 , the market launch was delayed until September 2011.

Honda had to record a decline in sales as early as the end of 2011, as production there stopped until February 15, 2012 due to the flood disaster in Thailand . In India, too, the Brio could not be built for over a month, as important parts for production are being delivered from Thailand.

Technical specifications

The car is powered by a 65 kW (88 hp) 1.2-liter inline four-cylinder petrol engine . This can be combined with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5- speed automatic transmission .
