The second generation of the Honda Civic was presented in the summer of 1979 and produced until the fall of 1983.

Honda Civic five-door (1979–1983)

The vehicle was available with 1.3 and 1.5 liter engines. The Civic was offered with a four-speed manual transmission or with the two-speed Hondamatic, later the five-speed manual transmission and the three-speed Hondamatic were added. From this generation onwards, the Civic was also available as a notchback sedan , which, depending on the market, was also called the Honda Ballade .

From spring 1980 there was also a station wagon in the range that technically shared the base with the longer four-door sedan (only for Japan, USA, Switzerland). The German version was equipped with the 1.3-liter engine, the North American (Country) version received the 1.5-liter engine.
