Bosau is a municipality on Lake Plön in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Bosau is located in the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park on the east bank of the southern part of the Great Plöner See ; north of the village, the Bischofssee extends as a bay of the Großer Plöner See . The cities of Plön and Eutin are nearby , and the Hanseatic city of Lübeck , like the state capital of Kiel, is around 35 km away. The highest point in the community is the Mühlenberg at 87.6 m in the Brackrade district.

Bosauer St. Petri Church
Bosau is best known for the St. Petri Church , built in 1151/52 . It was created during the Christianization of the Slavic East Holstein. The missionary Vicelin was appointed bishop of Oldenburg in Holstein by Heinrich the Lion in 1149 and received Bosau as the provisional official residence, where he had a church built in 1151/52. Vicelin suffered a stroke in 1152 and died in Neumünster in 1154. Pastor Helmold von Bosau reports about it in his Slav chronicle .
Culture
The Evangelical Lutheran parish of Bosau has been organizing the Bosau Summer Concerts in the Petri Church for over 40 years . The Bosau church musician and organist Sergej Tcherepanov has been the artistic director of the summer concerts since 2003 . He has turned this series of events into an attractive music festival with a variety of focuses: classical organ concerts, days of alternative organ music The organ dances , concerts, chamber music, choral and solo performances. Since 2008 the summer concerts have been sponsored by a Friends of the Bosau Summer Concerts association and supported in their implementation.
For the first time in 2009 an International Summer Academy in Bosau was held parallel to the summer concerts , at which more than 35 participants from several countries were able to take master classes in the subjects of organ, harpsichord, oboe and baroque violin. The summer academy is also initiated and organized by S. Tcherepanov and is supported primarily by lecturers at the Lübeck University of Music . The final concerts of the academy participants and lecturers are an attractive addition to the summer concerts. In the future, the summer academy will also take place every year as part of the summer concerts.
In 1977 Wolfgang Petersen shot scenes from the crime scene crime film Reifezeugnis with Nastassja Kinski and Christian Quadflieg on Stadtbeker Straße in Bosau , which received cult status in the Tatort series. The imposing bungalow was demolished in 2018 in order to build condominiums.
The “Location Bosau” was also used by the director Jan Harloff in 1988 in his film The Eye of the Deep , which combines picturesque shots of Holstein Switzerland with psychological horror visions.
education
In the district of Hutzfeld, the Heinrich Harms School is the primary school of the municipality of Bosau, which was attended by 98 students in five classes in 2019/20. Until 2015, the Heinrich Harms School was a regional and elementary school, whereby the regional school part had to give up its independence due to the falling number of pupils and now forms a branch of the Eutin Wilhelm Wisser School at the same location . The Hutzfeld school location also includes the Fritz-Latendorf-Hallen , which, in addition to the gymnasium opened in 1970, also houses a two-field sports hall released in 2001.
Trial site of the "slit tube centrifuge"
In 1939, the Hellmuth Walter KG company from Kiel acquired premises on the Plöner See and set up its test facility there in Stadtbek. Torpedoes and the slotted tube sling were tested here. This Walter slit tube extractor was a chemical steam extractor that was used until the end of the war. The Fi 103 flying bomb , later called the Vengeance Weapon 1 or V1, was thrown into the air by the Walter slotted tube sling (catapult) using a steam piston at a speed of 350 km / h. The piston was released and the Fi 103 continued to fly with its own pulso drive . Buildings of the test site, built on stilts in the lake, were blown up by the Allies after the war.
