John Franklin Miller (politician, 1862)

John Franklin Miller (born June 9, 1862 in South Bend , Indiana , † May 28, 1936 in Seattle , Washington ) was an American politician .

Miller was born on a farm in St. Joseph County , Indiana in 1862 . He graduated from the Law School of Valparaiso University . In 1887 he graduated and was admitted to the bar that same year. In 1888 Miller moved to Seattle and began practicing there. From 1890 to 1894 he was a prosecutor in King County ; from 1908 to 1910 he held the office of mayor of Seattle .

Miller was as Republicans in Congress voted and represented there in the US House of Representatives the state of Washington on 4 March 1917 to March 3, 1931. During this time he was a member of the Congress delegation that 1,919 American troops in France and Germany visited. After his career as a Congressman, Miller returned to his previous job.

Miller's uncle John Franklin Miller was also a politician. He sat for California in the US Senate from 1881 to 1886 .
