Kalangui ( Russian Калангу́й ) is an urban-type settlement in the Transbaikalia region in Russia with 2112 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is about 240 km as the crow flies southeast of the regional capital Tschita at the southern foot of the almost 1200 m Zugolkamm (Zugolski chrebet). It is located on a small right tributary of the right Onon tributary Turga .
Kalangui belongs to the Olowjanninski Rajon and is located almost 70 km east of its administrative center Olowjannaja . It is the seat and only locality of the municipality of Kalanguiskoje gorodskoje posselenije.
history
The place was created in 1919 in connection with the discovery of a fluorspar deposit . Its dismantling began in 1925. Kalangui has had urban-type settlement status since 1939.

Kalangui is on the regional road 76K-012 (formerly R431) Pervomaiski - Kondui . A road branches off 15 km southwest to the settlement of Chada-Bulak, 45 km from Kalangui, north of Scherlowaya Gora on the A350 highway (formerly A166), which connects Chita with the border with the People's Republic of China near Sabaikalsk . Khada-Bulak is also the closest train station on the Karymskaya - Sabaikalsk route.
