Schelopugino ( Russian Шелопу́гино ) is a village (selo) in the Transbaikalia region in Russia with 3274 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 280 km as the crow flies east of the regional capital Chita south of the Borschtschowotschnygebirge . It is mainly located on the left bank of the Onon tributary Unda .

Schelopugino is the administrative center of the Rajons Schelopuginski . The village is the seat of the rural community Schelopuginskoje selskoje posselenije, which also includes the villages of Banschtschikowo (10 km southeast), Kupryakovo (4 km north) and Malyschewo (14 km southeast).

history

The village was first mentioned in 1782 as a place founded by resettlers from the western part of the Russian Empire . From 1926 Shelopugino belonged to the Schidkinski rajon, which in 1953 merged into the Baleiski rajon; In 1961 it became the administrative seat of an independent Rajon.

Schelopugino is on the regional road 76A-008 (previously on this section R429), which connects Sretensk , where the nearest train station is, with Nerchinsky Zavod and continues across the Argun to the People's Republic of China . In Schelopugino, the newer road 76K-009 branches off towards Balei .
