Drowjanaja ( Russian Дровяна́я ) is an urban-type settlement in the Transbaikalia region in Russia with 2871 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 60 km as the crow flies southwest of the regional capital Chita at the western foot of the Cherski Mountains , a good 5 km from the right bank of the Ingoda .

Drowjanaja belongs to the Ulyotovsky district and is located about 50 km northeast of its administrative center Ulyoty . The settlement is the seat of the municipality Drowjaninskoje gorodskoje posselenije, which also includes the village Tataurowo (8 km west-northwest), the settlement Krasnaya Rechka (7 km north) and the station settlement Golubichnaja (4 km north).

history

The place was created towards the end of the 19th century in connection with the construction of the Transbaikal Railway as part of the Trans-Siberian Railway , which runs around 20 km north on the other side of the Ingoda. In the area around the place, which was initially called Tataurowo Tataurowskije datschi , derived from the name of the village , wood required for building the railway was felled and the Ingoda floated down ; a few years later a freight connection railway was introduced.

From 1924 to 1926 the settlement was the administrative seat of the Tataurovsky rajon, which was added to the Ulyotovsky rajon in 1927. Since 1929 Drowjanaja has had the status of an urban-type settlement under this name, derived from Russian drowa for firewood or generally felled wood .

A local road leads from Drowjanaja down the right bank of the Ingoda until it crosses the river after about 17 km and also joins the R258 at the Lesnoi Gorodok settlement .

A freight connection line leads past the village ( Golubitschnaja station near the district of the same name) to the Gorny settlement, which branches off the Trans-Siberian Railway at Lesnaja station .
