Kurort-Darassun ( Russian Куро́рт-Дарасу́н , Buryat Дараhанай аршаан) is a health resort and urban-type settlement in the Transbaikalia region in Russia with 3120 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 100 km as the crow flies south of the regional capital Tschita between the Mogoitui Mountains (Mogoituiski chrebet) in the east and the Daurian Mountains (Daurski chrebet) in the west; both are almost 1200  m high in this area . It is located on the right bank of the Ingoda tributary Tura , at the confluence of the Darassun (also Darassunka) river.

Spa Darassun belongs to Rajon Karymsky and is located some 60 km south-west of the administrative center Karymskoje . The settlement is the seat of the municipality of Kurort-Darasunskoje gorodskoje posselenije, which also includes the village of Kalanga (10 km south).

history

A first small settlement was established around a mineral spring known since the end of the 17th century . The spring was increasingly used from 1852 onwards, and from 1858 as an official health resort. From the 1930s onwards, several larger sanatoriums , including those of the Ministry of Defense and the trade unions, were built during the Soviet period . Kurort-Darassun has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1957.

Kurort-Darassun is on the regional road 76K-005 (formerly A167), which branches off the A350 highway , which connects Chita with the border with the People's Republic of China near Sabaikalsk , not far from the Darassun settlement 65 km away (also the closest train station on the Trans-Siberian Railway ) . The 76K-005 continues from Kurort-Darassun in the direction of Duldurga  - Akscha to the Mongolian border.
