Orlowski ( Russian Орло́вский ) is an urban-type settlement in the Transbaikalia region in Russia with 2194 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 150 km as the crow flies southeast of the regional capital Tschita in the area of ​​the 1000  m high mountain ridge Changilai-Schily.

Orlowski belongs to Rajon Aginski and is located some 20 km from east-southeast of the administrative center Aginskoye . The settlement is the seat of the municipality (gorodskoje posselenije) Orlowski, which also includes the villages of Delberchei (12 km south) and Santa (22 km south-southeast).

history

The settlement was founded in 1940 under the name Aginski priisk , after the name of a tin and tungsten mine built there (later also mining of lithium and tantalum ores ). In the 1960s, the mine and site were given their current name. Orlowski has had urban-type settlement status since 1970.

Orlowski is connected to the east of Aginskoye by a road about 17 km long, which also runs through the neighboring settlement of Novoorlowsk , 9 km to the northwest , with the A350 highway , which runs past to the north , the Chita via Mogoitui (the next one is about 40 km away by road Train station) connects to the border with the People's Republic of China near Sabaikalsk .
