Geographical location
The municipality of Blankenbach is located in the Kahlgrund between Schöllkrippen and Mömbris on both sides of the Kahl . The river divides the main town into Groß- and Kleinblankenbach. The topographically highest point of the municipality is located east of Kleinblankenbach at 315 m above sea level. NN (location) , the lowest is on the Kahl near the Flederichsmühle at 182 m above sea level. NN (location) .
Kleinblankenbach is located on the left and south side of the Kahl on the state road 2305 . To the southwest lies the village of Erlenbach . The stream Blankenbach flows through Kleinblankenbach and flows into the Kahl near the train station. The highest and lowest points of the village mark correspond to those of the entire municipality.
Großblankenbach is located on the right and north bank of the Kahl on the AB12 district road, which leads to Krombach . The Krombach stream flows through Großblankenbach . Surname
The name Blankenbach is derived from the Blankenbach stream of the same name , which flows into the Kahl in Kleinblankenbach. The place is called Bloanggemich in the Kahlgründer dialect .
history
The communities Großblankenbach and Kleinblankenbach belonged to the Alzenau district office , which was formed on July 1, 1862. On January 1, 1939, this became part of the Alzenau district in Lower Franconia .
On January 20, 1966, the communities Großblankenbach and Kleinblankenbach, which were on the right and left of the Kahl , and the village of Erlenbach merged to form the community of Blankenbach. While Großblankenbach used to belong to Count Schönborn, Kleinblankenbach was part of Kurmainz .
With the dissolution of the Alzenau district in Lower Franconia, the Blankenbach community became part of the newly formed Aschaffenburg district on July 1, 1972 .

Coat of arms history
The municipality of Blankenbach was created in 1966 through the merger of the previously independent municipalities Großblankenbach and Kleinblankenbach, which are on the right and left of the Kahl. The Kahl separates the two places, which is symbolized in the coat of arms by the silver wavy bar, the river formed the border between two domains until the 19th century, Großblankenbach belonged to the rule of the Counts Schönborn, which is indicated in the coat of arms by the lion from the family coat of arms of the Schönborn is represented. These administered the community for the Archdiocese of Würzburg , as indicated by the three silver tips from the Würzburg coat of arms (the Franconian rake ). TV 1926 Blankenbach is the largest association in the municipality of Blankenbach. Over 700 members participate in the sports of volleyball, soccer, gymnastics and adult fitness.
