Le Faou [ lə fʊ ] ( Breton Ar Faou ) is a commune in western France in the Finistère department in Brittany . It has 1727 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) and was classified as one of the Plus beaux villages de France ( Most Beautiful Villages in France ).

geography

Le Faou is located on the river of the same name about 25 kilometers southeast of Brest in front of the Crozon peninsula on the Rade de Brest , a bay of the Atlantic that juts deep into the land .
