Port-Launay ( Meilh-ar-Wern in Breton ) is a French commune in the Finistère department with 391 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It belongs to the arrondissement of Châteaulin and the canton of Crozon .
geography
The municipality is located in western Brittany at the eastern end of the mouth of the Aulne river , which flows into the Rade de Brest , a deeply inland bay of the Atlantic . Port-Launay is the last natural harbor on the Aulne; from here the river is channeled as part of the Canal de Nantes à Brest .
The port is part of the Cornouaille region and is located in the Parc naturel régional d'Armorique . Châteaulin is three kilometers southwest, Quimper 24 kilometers south and Brest 36 kilometers northwest (figures rounded off as the crow flies ).

The nearest exit on the motorway-like expressway E 60 ( Nantes -Brest) and the next regional train station on the mostly parallel railway line are at Châteaulin.
The regional airport Aéroport Brest-Bretagne is located near Brest .
