Spézet ( Speied in Breton ) is a French commune with 1808 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Finistère department .

location

The place is centrally located in the west of Brittany near the river Aulne on the northern edge of the Montagnes Noires ridge .

Quimper is 35 kilometers southwest, the city and port of Brest 60 kilometers northwest and Paris about 460 kilometers east (as the crow flies ).

At Châteaulin , Quimper and Rosporden in the west and south there are exits on the expressway E 60 Brest- Nantes and at Landivisiau and Morlaix in the north on the E 50 Brest- Rennes .

In the aforementioned municipalities, there are also train stations on the predominantly parallel regional railway lines . Brest train station is the terminus of the TGV Atlantique to Paris.

The airports Aéroport de Brest Bretagne near Brest and Aéroport de Lorient Bretagne Sud near Lorient are the nearest regional airports .

The Hyère flows into the Aulne river near the municipality of Pont-Triffen . Together they form a section of the Canal de Nantes à Brest , which can be navigated by ships. Upstream from Pont-Triffen, the canal is currently only navigable as far as Carhaix-Plouguer .

Attractions

Notre-Dame du Crann chapel

The town's main attraction is the Notre-Dame du Crann chapel from 1535 (information on the town's website). The Alignement du Bois du Duc is located on the edge of the forest in Spézet. The Château de Trévarez is located in the immediate vicinity in the neighboring municipality of Saint-Goazec .
