Lilija Afanassjewna Wassiltschenko ( Russian Лилия Афанасьевна Васильченко ; born June 8, 1962 in Novosibirsk ; † December 19, 2011 there ) was a Soviet cross-country skier .

Career

Vasilchenko ran her first World Cup race in Kiruna in April 1982 and finished 16th over 5 km. At the Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984 , she achieved 17th place over 5 km. At the beginning of the 1984/85 season she achieved her only podium finish in the World Cup singles in Val di Sole with third place over 5 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 in Seefeld in Tirol , she won the gold medal with the relay. She also came in 11th place over 10 km and eighth place over 20 km. At the end of the season she finished 15th in the overall World Cup. She ran her last World Cup race in February 1986 in Kavgolovo , which she finished classically in 12th place over 10 km.
