List of well-known personalities of the Hohen Karlsschule in Stuttgart
This list includes former members of the Karlsschule and, since December 1781, Hohen Karlsschule in Stuttgart. The school existed from 1770 to 1794. It was established by Duke Carl Eugen as a military academy and an art academy. In 1781 the school was elevated to a university by Emperor Joseph II as the High Charles School ; it was intended as an elite school for sons from respected Württemberg families.
“Of the 1,496 pupils who attended the academy, 140 embarked on a military career. Relatively many, there are 33 generals alone, have achieved higher and highest officer positions in various European countries. "
