This list of fictional animals contains fabulous or mythological animals that do not occur in nature and that are depicted in sagas, mythological stories, novels, films, comics or computer games. Invented animals based on a biological model are not included (see list of fictional animals )!

Dragons and their relatives
Dragons are a common category, some of which have been named in stories.
- Alexstrasza from Warcraft / World of Warcraft , also called "the life-binder", one of the five aspects and brood mother of the red dragonflight. Alexstrasza is the aspect of life and every now and then, like some other dragons from the Warcraft universe, takes on an elf-like shape.
- Alduin the Eater of the World is a dragon from the Elder Scrolls universe . He is regarded as the messenger of the end of the world and is able to travel to Sovngarde (the afterlife in the mythology of the north), and there to eat the souls of the fallen.
- Aryn the Frostweaver is an ice dragon of almost godlike power. No army was able to defeat him, under his wings the land froze to ice, only the song of the elf queen Cenwen warmed his heart and he gave her people the power of winter on the condition that she would sing for him forever. From Spellforce : Breath of Winter.
- Ancalagon , the first and largest of all winged fire kites, is described in the Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien .
- Dorn, from the book Eragon - The Order of the Elder by Christopher Paolini .
- Dragon in the book The Dragon Who Didn't Want to Fight by Kenneth Graham , based on the film Dragonheart.
- Dragons that are used in The Dragon Gate by Jenny-Mai Nuyen as riding and flying animals in war.
- Draco the dragon in the movie Dragonheart .
- Drogon, Rhaegar and Viseryon. Dragons from Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones .
- Dunkelzahn, dragon from the Shadowrun universe, former President of the UCAS and leader of the dragons. Left a complex will after a successful attack on his life. He was succeeded as the leader of the dragons by Lofwyr.
- Elliot, the smirking monster from the Disney film of the same name .
- Fafnir , is a figure in Norse mythology .

- Feodaron and Feomathar are fire dragon brothers from the valley of mines and live in the halls of Irdorath in Gothic 2 .
- Finkregh, the ice dragon from the valley of mines in Gothic 2 .
- Fírnen, the newly hatched, green dragon from Eragon - The legacy of power from Christopher Paolini .
- Flitze Feuerzahn is the hero of a radio play series.
- Mrs. Mahlzahn the dragon from the book Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver by Michael Ende . The transformed Ms. Molar becomes the Golden Dragon of Wisdom in Jim Knopf and the Wild 13.
- Fuchur is the lucky dragon in The Neverending Story of Michael Ende.
- Fumé is a single parent dragon father in Grisu , who tried in vain to talk his son out of his career plans as a firefighter.
- Fyrmir is a flightless dragon from Spellforce .
- Glaurung is a dragon from JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion.
- Grisu is the little dragon who really wanted to be a firefighter.
- Glaedr, the old, golden dragon from Eragon - The legacy of power from Christopher Paolini .
- Hector is a little big-belly dragon from the cartoon: Lilli the witch .
- Laurin the Deceiver is a wind dragon made of Spellforce , which can make copies of itself on so-called dragon stones.
- Longfang Witherhide is the only dragon with its own name from Might & Magic 6.
- In the Shadowrun universe, Lofwyr is the chairman of the supervisory board of the fictional Saeder-Krupp group and also the leader of the dragons.

- Katla, the female dragon in Astrid Lindgren's The Lionheart Brothers .
- Coconut, courageous fire dragon from the children's book series The Little Dragon Coconut by Ingo Siegner .
- Korialstrasz from the Warcraft universe. The preferred companion of Alexstrasza, also known in his human form as the magician Krasus.
- Malygos, one of the five aspects of Warcraft / World of Warcraft . Malygos is the aspect of magic and head of the Blue Swarm. - Mushu, the little dragon from the cartoon Mulan
- Neltharion one of the five aspects from Warcraft / World of Warcraft . Neltharion is the aspect of Earth and head of the Black Swarm. - Underhill appears in a short story by Ursula K. Le Guin as Yevaud in the novel Erdsee .
- Ur, also called the "grandfather", is the head of the Shaikan (people with dragon blood) from Spellforce 2 .
- The "undead dragon", who has no name and lives in the halls of Irdorath, is the boss in Gothic 2 .
- Vauvenal from Julia Conrad's novel The Dragons .
- Wick is the "throat dragon" from the advertising for cough chewy candies.
- Yoshi is a dinosaur from Nintendo's Super Mario video games.
- Ysera, one of the five aspects from Warcraft / World of Warcraft. Ysera is the aspect of dreams and the brood mother of the green swarm. Most of the time, her mind is in the “emerald green dream”, a kind of parallel dimension.
- Zyrafir is a dragonling who killed the dwarf "Herger" and his guard ( Spellforce ).

- Carcharoth is the most powerful wolf in JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion .
- Draugluin , the first of Melkor's cruel wolves from JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion .
- Garm , the dog at the gate to the Hel in Old Norse mythology.
- Huan is a great hunting dog in JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion .
- Fluffy , three-headed dog in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by Joanne K. Rowling .
- Kerberos , also: "Cerberus" / "Cerberus", guardian and gatekeeper of the Greek underworld .
- Lupo , a character from Fix and Foxi .
- Wargs are wolf-like creatures and can be found in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien.
