- Arsacius Seehofer (around 1505 – around 1540), Reformation theologian, was a preacher in Leonberg
- After the death of Friedrich I of Württemberg , his widow, Duchess Sybilla (1564–1614), moved to Leonberg in 1609. Master builder Heinrich Schickhardt laid out the bitter orange garden for them and built the lake house for them.
- Johannes Kepler (1571–1630) lived in Leonberg as a child from 1576 to 1579 and attended Latin school here.
