Mons is a French commune with 1,677 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gard department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Alès and is part of the canton of Alès-2 (until 2015: canton of Alès-Sud-Est ). The inhabitants are called monsois .
geography
Mons is about seven kilometers east of Alès in the Cevennes . Mons is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Servas in the north, Les Plans in the northeast, Saint-Just-et-Vacquières in the east and southeast, Monteils in the south, Méjannes-lès-Alès in the southwest, and Saint-Privat-des-Vieux in the west and northwest as well as Salindres in the northwest.
