NGC 7682 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 235 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light-years across . Together with NGC 7679 , it forms the pair of galaxies Arp 216 .
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class of galaxies with adjacent loops .
The galaxies NGC 7685 and NGC 7687 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on September 23, 1862 by the astronomer Heinrich d'Arrest with his 11-inch telescope and was later included in his New General Catalog by Johan Dreyer .
