Neukirchen is a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen and a member of the Hunderdorf administrative community .

history
Early history
Neukirchen was first mentioned in documents in 1126 in a deed of donation from the Oberalteich monastery under the name 'Niuenchirichen'. Neukirchen was part of the Straubing Rent Office and the Mitterfels Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria .
Incorporations
On January 1, 1976, the previously independent municipality of Obermühlbach, which had more residents than Neukirchen, was incorporated. Dörnau (1979), Birkhof and Rimbach (1980) were reclassified from Hunderdorf to Neukirchen.
Population development
In the period from 1988 to 2018, the municipality grew from 1,553 to 1,730 by 177 inhabitants or 11.4%.

Culture and sights
- Neukirchen is a state-approved resort . In addition to the extensive network of cycling and hiking trails, the district fruit garden with fruit educational path and the Perlbachtal nature experience path are also worth mentioning.
- The parish church of St. Martin is a late baroque complex with furnishings from the period of construction in the middle of the 18th century.
- In Pürgl there is the St. Pauli Conversion branch church, a three-icon complex from 1712.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 1998 there were eleven in agriculture and forestry, 168 in manufacturing and five in trade and transport at the place of work. In other economic sectors 49 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 531 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There was one company in the manufacturing industry (as well as mining and quarrying of stones and earth) and two companies in the construction industry. In addition, in 1999 there were 92 farms with an agriculturally used area of 1234 ha. Of this, 416 ha were arable land and 810 ha were permanent green areas.

- Primary schools: one with four teachers and 59 students (as of 2017/2018)
traffic
Neukirchen is on State Road 2139 . In 2017, a Bavaria-wide pilot project to measure the volume of motorcycles was carried out by the Bavarian Police Administration. After the successful implementation of the pilot project, the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior decided at the beginning of 2018 to allow the use of these noise displays nationwide. Neukirchen, in cooperation with the neighboring community of St.Englmar and initiated by council member Matthias Wallner, is playing a pioneering role throughout Bavaria in the fight against motorcycle noise.
