Venezuela took part in the 1952 Summer Olympics in the Finnish capital Helsinki with 38 athletes, two women and 36 men and two women, in eight sports.
It was Venezuela's first real Olympic team, after only one individual athlete each represented the South American country at the 1932 and 1948 Games . The athlete Asnoldo Devonish won the first Olympic medal in Venezuela with bronze in the triple jump.
