Malaya took part in the 1960 Summer Olympics in the Italian capital Rome with a delegation of nine male athletes in eleven competitions in four sports.

No medals could be won. The youngest athlete was the sprinter Manikavasagam Jegathesan (16 years and 307 days), the oldest athlete was the marksman Chan Kooi Chye (39 years and 82 days). It was the country's second Summer Olympics participation after the 1956 Summer Olympics . The standard bearer was the sprinter Shahrudin Mohamed Ali .
