Petra Behle (born January 5, 1969 in Offenbach am Main ; born Petra Schaaf ) is a former German biathlete .
Biathlon career
After the family moved to Mittenwald , Petra Behle learned to ski at the age of eight and began cross-country skiing . In 1986 she came to the ski boarding school in Willingen . There she brought her then trainer Renate Schinze to the biathlon. Petra Behle started for SC Willingen . In 1988 she became the youngest German world champion in biathlon. With four individual and five relay gold medals, she was the most successful World Cup participant of all time until she was replaced by Magdalena Neuner on March 12, 2011 . Despite her outstanding world championship results, she could not win an individual medal at three Olympic Games, but won a medal with the relay. It was similar for her in the World Cup : with twenty races won, she is also one of the most successful athletes here - Magdalena Forsberg was the best and won 42 races. Petra Behle, however, did not manage to win an individual or even the overall World Cup, two third places in the overall World Cup are for her.
For her sporting success she received the Silver Laurel Leaf on May 6, 2002 .
Professional background
From 1998 to 2007 she was the ZDF seen as biathlon expert. Together with Christa Haas and from the 2006/2007 winter season with Norbert König , she moderated the live broadcasts of the competitions. Sven Fischer was her successor in this position .
Sports official
Petra Behle is a personal member of the NOK and active spokesperson in the State Sports Conference Hesse . She is also a member of the expert committee of Deutsche Sporthilfe . In 2003 she successfully completed her training as a sports economist at the European Business School .
Private life and engagement
In 1994 she married the cross-country skier Jochen Behle , from whom she separated again in April 1999. On January 30, 2009, she married her partner, with whom she has lived since 2003. Petra Behle currently lives in Biebertal . She volunteers as patron of the Tour of Hope , a celebrity bike tour that helps raise funds for children with cancer every year. In 2009 she was appointed Ambassador to Central Hesse for her services to the region .
