ProA 2012/13

Basketball Bundesliga 2013/14

The 2013/14 season is the seventh season of the German ProA basketball division . The ProA is the first season of the hierarchically structured 2nd basketball league . The regular season began on September 28, 2013 and ended on March 30, 2014, followed by the play-offs for promotion.

mode

16 teams are scheduled to take part in the league, playing a regular season as a round-robin tournament in the "everyone against everyone" mode with a return game. The eight best-placed teams in the final table played out two finalists in the play-offs in the "Best-of-Five" mode , who thus acquired the athletic right to participate in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), which they acquired when a BBL license was granted Based on economic and infrastructural criteria eligible for promotion to the BBL. The finalists also played the champions of this league in two legs. The two worst teams relegated to the lower season ProB of the second division.

conditions

The participating teams had to prove a minimum budget of 350,000 euros and a venue with a capacity for 1,500 spectators. In addition, the organization of the club, the promotion of young talent and the venue infrastructure were rated according to a point system in which at least 100 points had to be achieved this season.

During a game, two German players per team always had to stand on the field, the German players were marked with a German flag on their jerseys.

A maximum of 18 players per season and team could be used. At least nine of them had to be German citizens. Of the maximum of twelve players that could be used per game, at least six had to be German. There were double licenses for players in the U24 age group with the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and for U22 players from the regional leagues (and below). These players are not among the 18 maximum players that can be used, but they do count towards the national quota, provided they are German citizens.

Season Notes

  • The Gießen 46ers were relegated from the Basketball Bundesliga 2012/13 . The Neckar Riesen Ludwigsburg ranked on a relegation place were able to acquire a " wild card " to stay in the top division, since the ProA finalist Düsseldorf Baskets, as a club entitled to promotion, could not obtain a license for the first division.
  • The champion Bayer Giants Leverkusen was promoted from the ProB 2012/13 . The Schwelmer Baskets as finalists had not applied for a license for the ProA due to a lack of infrastructure.
  • The Kirchheim Knights as the penultimate of the ProA 2012/13 received the license of the sporty climber Schwelmer Baskets.
  • The Düsseldorf Baskets had been granted the ProA license before their athletic promotion. After new knowledge emerged in the licensing procedure for the basketball Bundesliga , in which the baskets could not obtain the license, the licensing committee decided to review the documents of the club, which had only received the previous year's license for the ProA in relicensing under strict conditions . After the documents were checked again, the association's license for the ProA was revoked. As a successor, the BBC Magdeburg , runner-up in the Regionalliga Nord, received a wildcard for the ProA and thus skipped the ProB.

3 The final was played in the two-legged mode, in which the better-placed team had home rights after the main round in the second leg, so that the worse-placed team had to play at home first in the first leg. BG Göttingen won the ProA championship title due to the better basket ratio. Both opponents in the final had thus achieved the right to participate in the basketball Bundesliga 2014/15 by sporting means, subject to an economic license being granted .
