ProB 2008/09
The 2008/09 season is the second season of the German ProB basketball division . The ProB is the second season of the hierarchically structured 2nd basketball league . The regular season began on October 3, 2008 and ended on April 25, 2009.
mode
16 teams took part in the league. The two best-placed teams acquired the right to participate in the ProA . The four worst teams were relegated to the regional leagues, which were divided into four divisions (north, south-west, south-east, west).
conditions
The participating teams had to:
- play in a hall that has 300 seats.
- have six players in their squad who have German citizenship .
During the game, two German players per team always had to stand on the field, the German players were marked with a German flag on their jerseys.
A maximum of 18 players per season and team could be used. At least nine of them had to be German citizens. Of the maximum of twelve players that could be used per game, at least six had to be German. There were double licenses for players of the U24 age group with the basketball league and for U22 players from the regional leagues (and below). These players were not among the 18 maximum players that could be used, but they were part of the national quota (provided they were German).
Season Notes
- The SOBA Dragons Rhöndorf decided not to participate in the ProA in favor of their youth development concept and will play in the ProB in the 2008/09 season. This enabled BV Chemnitz 99 to remain in the ProA despite last year's sporting descent .
- The relegated from the ProA was: Franken Witcher .
- The four newcomers from the regional leagues were: TG Renesas Landshut , ASC Theresianum Mainz , P4two Ballers Osnabrück and UBC Tigers Hanover .
- The real promoter from the Regionalliga Südost was FC Bayern Munich . However, since the ProA license of Düsseldorf Magics was transferred, the vice-champion of the Regionalliga Südost, the TG Renesas Landshut, was able to rise.
- With regard to the goal of the AG 2. Basketball-Bundesliga to promote German players in particular, the working group of the clubs published an extensive evaluation at the end of the season.
