Robert "Bobby" Holík (born January 1, 1971 in Jihlava , Czechoslovakia ) is a former US-American - Czech ice hockey player and current - coach who played 1455 games for the Hartford Whalers , New Jersey Devils , New York Rangers and Atlanta Thrashers competed in the National Hockey League on the position of the center . His most celebrated Karriererfolge Holik in the service of the New Jersey Devils, with whom the two-time participant in the NHL All-Star Game in the years 1995 and 2000 the Stanley Cup won. He has been the national coach of the Israeli national team since 2018 and also looks after their U20 and U18 national teams.
Career
The 1.83 m tall striker began his career with Czech club ASD Dukla Jihlava and was selected in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft as tenth in the first round by the Hartford Whalers . After three professional seasons in Czechoslovakia, he received permission to move to North America in the summer of 1990. In his first season he appeared in 84 games for the Whalers and scored 21 goals and 22 assists.
After two successful seasons with the Whalers, Holik moved to the New Jersey Devils in the summer of 1992 , for whom he was on the ice for ten years. With the Devils, Holik was able to win the Stanley Cup in 1995 and 2000 . In 1998 and 1999 he also played with the best players of the season in the NHL All-Star Game .
Before the 2002/03 season, the Czech joined the New York Rangers as a free agent ; after the 2004/05 lockout season , he signed a contract with the Atlanta Thrashers, for which he played for a total of three years until summer 2008. For his final professional season, he returned to the New Jersey Devils in the 2008-09 game year .
At the U20 World Junior Championship of Division II B 2019 , Holík supervised the Israeli U20 national team . As a result, the U18 selection and the A national team with which the promotion to Group A within the World Cup of Division II B 2019 succeeded.
International
For the Czechoslovak national team Holik played the world championships in 1990 and 1991 , in 20 World Cup games, the right-shooter scored four goals and eight assists. He also represented the country at numerous junior tournaments. With the Czech national team , Holík played the World Cup of Hockey in 1996 .

family
Holik is the son of Jaroslav Holík , who became world champion with the Czechoslovak national ice hockey team in 1972 and also led the Czech U20 team to two World Cup titles in 2000 and 2001 .
His uncle Jiří Holík is also one of the most successful ice hockey players in Czechoslovakia and a member of the IIHF Hall of Fame . He is also married to an American , which means that he has had American citizenship since November 4, 1996. Former NHL player František Musil is married to Holík's sister.
