The 2006/07 season of Serie B started on September 9, 2006 and ended on June 10, 2007. For Frosinone Calcio and 27-time champions Juventus Turin it was the first season in the second-highest Italian division. Juventus managed First prize direct promotion to the Serie A . With the SSC Napoli and the CFC Genoa , two traditional clubs also rose to the top league together with Juve , both of which had been transferred to the third division a few years earlier.
Since fourth-placed FC Piacenza was more than nine points behind third-placed CFC Genoa at the end of the season, no play-offs were played. The AC Arezzo , FC Crotone and Pescara Calcio went directly into the Serie C1 from. The fourth and fifth from last placed teams Hellas Verona and AC Spezia met in the playouts , in which Spezia prevailed and managed to stay in the league. The top scorer was Alessandro Del Piero from Juventus Turin with 20 goals this season .

** Juventus Turin started the season with a penalty of -17 points, this penalty was later reduced to -9 points.
*** The third-sixth placed teams in the Serie B normally play in a play-off for promotion to the Serie A . In the 2006/07 season, however, there were 10 points between third-placed CFC Genoa and fourth-placed FC Piacenza , which enabled Genoa to gain direct promotion without a play-off, see special case play-off .
