The Elverum – Kongsvinger railway is a 94-kilometer, single-track, non-electrified railway line between Kongsvinger and Elverum in Norway . Of Jernbaneverket the route is as Solørbanen referred.
history
The construction of the line was decided by the Storting in two stages. The legal basis for the Kongsvinger– Flisa section was created on July 8, 1890, and the first trains started running on November 1, 1893. The extension to Elverum was approved on March 2, 1894, but it took until December 3, 1910 for regular operations to begin.
At that time the first section was called Kongsvinger-Flisenbanen KFB , after the opening of the entire line it was called Kongsvinger-Elverumbanen KEB .
From June 3, 1929, railcars were used, which stopped at level crossings as planned. Fixed stops were set up for this from 1930.
At times the trains from Trondheim were run over the route, day trains run between 1943 and 1946 and from 1986 to 1989. Between 1986 and 1991 there was also a night train.
The steam locomotive series 26 was used until April 1969 for the pair of freight trains 5081/82. The pair of trains 5717/5084 also ran on steam, but was run on a different route from May 30, 1965. Thereafter, diesel locomotives of the type Di 3 took over the freight traffic until 2000.
The last passenger trains in local traffic, which ended on May 27, 1990, were mostly driven by type 86 railcars . On August 29, 1994, passenger traffic was finally ceased.
Since then, the route has only been used by freight trains, mostly with wood and tiles. The section between Elverum and Braskereidfoss is more traveled than the rest of the route.
Important stations were Kirkenær , Flisa and Braskereidfoss, where there was heavy traffic except in the terminal stations.
In Haslemoen the second longest straight stretch of Norway lies.
Cargolink , CargoNet , Hector Rail and TÅGAB are now responsible for transporting the freight trains using the Di 6 , Di 8 , TMY , TMZ and BR 941 series .
