Thénac is a western French community with 1,677 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saintes and the canton of Thénac (until 2015: canton of Saintes-Ouest ). The inhabitants are called Thénacais .
geography
Thénac is located about nine kilometers south of Saintes in the middle of the cultural landscape of the Saintonge . Thénac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saintes in the north, Les Gonds in the northeast, Préguillac in the east, Tesson in the south, Rioux in the southwest, Rétaud in the west and Chermignac in the northwest.
The A10 car route runs through the municipality . The Saintes-Thénac airfield is located in the municipality.
