The league was played with a total of five teams in the form of main round, intermediate round and playoffs with semi-finals and finals. Since the international competition of the MOL League was running for the second time (see MOL League 2009/10 ), the main round consisted only of the purely Hungarian matches rated in a separate table. Only from the intermediate round and after the end of the MOL league in February 2011 were the Hungarian league's own matches played.
SAPA Fehérvár AV 19 did not run a farm team this season; the combat team, which was taking part in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga at the same time , joined the competition at the beginning of the playoffs and was permanently qualified for it.
Main round
The sixteen games of the preliminary round came from the main round of the MOL league, in whose final table Újpesti TE had been ranked before the Budapest Stars.
The intermediate round was played as a double round trip, with the top three clubs receiving six, four and two bonus points after their placement from the main round. The previously fourth-placed Ferencvárosi TC reached third place , not least thanks to a game against Miskolci JJSE that was criminally verified in his favor, thus displacing Újpesti TE from the play-off positions.
At the beginning of the playoffs, SAPA Fehérvár AV 19 joined the competition with the EBEL team. Their semi-final series against third-placed Ferencvárosi TC was extremely one-sided with three clear wins in three games. The second series, on the other hand, was more balanced: After the respective away team had prevailed four times, with the first two games only finding their winner in the penalty shootout, Dunaújváros broke this series in the all-important fifth game and won the semi-finals after being 0-2 behind 3: 2 on their own ice.
The class difference remained clearly visible in the final. Fehérvár remained unbeaten here too, although the fourth and decisive win at home only came in the penalty shoot-out. In the series for third place, the Budapest Stars came out on top.
