Location of the rural community Vogtei in the Unstrut-Hainich district | ||
The Vogtei community is a rural community in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia . The geographic center of Germany is located in the municipality . The name of the rural community is derived from the Vogtei Dorla , the historical landscape name for the current municipality.
geography
Vogtei is located in the south of the Unstrut-Hainich district south of the district town of Mühlhausen on the northern edge of the Hainich . The transport connection is via the L 1016 between Mühlhausen and Eisenach . The Mühlhäuser Straße (L 2104) leads from the junction at the former Gunzelhof between the districts of Ober- and Niederdorla in a westerly direction to Heyerode .
Rural community division
The rural community consists of the three districts Oberdorla , Niederdorla and Langula . In addition, Vogtei is a fulfilling municipality for Kammerforst and Oppershausen . All five places were previously united in the Vogtei administrative community.
Neighboring communities
The municipal area is bordered by Rodeberg and Mühlhausen / Thuringia in the north, Oppershausen and Kammerforst in the south, the communities of Nazza and Hallungen in the Wartburg district in the southwest and the district of Heyerode in the rural community of Südeichsfeld in the west. The main road is in the course of 2104, the corridor on the border with Heyerode Grenzhaus Heyerode as a historical western border point of the Bailiwick Dorla with the territory of Eichsfeld .
Center of Germany
If you fit the borders of Germany into an area between the respective extreme degrees of latitude and longitude (rectangular method), the center of Germany is in the district of Niederdorla about 500 m north of the town center and about 1000 m east of the former Oberdorla train station at 51 ° 9 '48.2 " N , 10 ° 26' 51.7" O . This center point has the mean values of the coordinates of the northernmost and southernmost as well as the easternmost and westernmost point as coordinates.
Waters
To the west of Oberdorla are the sinkhole springs “ Kainspring ”, “ Melchiorbrunnen ” and the Dittelhainsbrunnen . The Spittelbrunnen is an episodic spring, here was a medieval village Sprudelborn . The former sacrificial moor is a body of water that has reappeared after the peat mining ended; it was originally an extensive, water-filled and gradually silted up depression in the north of the municipality.
history
The history of the three places Oberdorla , Niederdorla and Langula has been linked since the early days: In 1123 the Archbishop of Mainz set up a provost's office in Dorla; the agricultural goods and possessions of the Dorla Abbey were grouped together in the Dorla Bailiwick , which, in addition to some desolations, included the present-day towns of Oberdorla, Langula and Niederdorla. The Bishop of Worms Emmerich von Schöneck († 1318) officiated here as a provost from 1280 .
From 1785 to 1786 the bailiffs went to Vienna to personally petition Emperor Joseph II to settle the territorial issue of the Dorla bailiff.
From 1816 the three places belonged to the district of Mühlhausen i. Th. In the Prussian province of Saxony . After the Second World War , the region was in the Soviet occupation zone and from 1949 in the GDR . In 1950, today's municipality became part of the Mühlhausen district , which in 1994 became part of the Unstrut-Hainich district.
From 1911 to 1969 Oberdorla and Langula had train stations on the Mühlhausen – Treffurt railway line , which connected Mühlhausen to the Werra valley across the Hainich .
Since 1994 the communities have been working together in the Vogtei administrative community, which also includes Kammerforst and Oppershausen . In 2011 efforts were made to transform the administrative community into a rural community . The municipal councils of Kammerforst and Oppershausen spoke out against joining the rural community, so that it was formed on December 31, 2012 from the places Oberdorla, Niederdorla and Langula.

mayor
On March 17, 2019 Christian Hecht (independent) was elected mayor with 51.9% of the vote. He replaced Winfried Bötticher (SPD), who had been in office since 2013.
coat of arms
Blazon : "Three green clovers growing out of a green triangle in the base of the shield in silver."
Reason: The coat of arms approved in 2016 is based on the oldest found coat of arms of the bailiwick from the middle of the 18th century. Each of the three clovers stands for a village in the bailiwick. The triangle in the Schildfuß (mountain) stands for the Hainich and for the common roots of the three districts Langula, Niederdorla and Oberdorla.
