Wachruschi ( Russian Ва́хруши ) is an urban-type settlement in Kirov Oblast in Russia with 9,715 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is a good 20 km as the crow flies northeast of the Kirov Oblast Administrative Center , about 6 km from the right bank of the Vyatka . Immediately at the place the Mochowiza flows into the upper reaches of the Nikulinka, which only flows into the Vyatka at Kirow.
Wachruschi belongs to the Slobodskoi Rajon , is located about 10 km southwest of its administrative seat Slobodskoi and is the seat of the municipality Wachruschewskoje gorodskoje posselenije, to which the village Podzobnoje chosjaistwo ("ancillary economy") belongs 2 km northeast.
history
The village, about 1.5 km south of today's settlement, which today also bears the name Wachruschi, but belongs to the neighboring rural community Leninskoje selskoje posselenije, was first mentioned in the 16th century as Malosawalichinskaja . The settlement itself was established in connection with the establishment of a leather goods factory by local entrepreneurs, the Wachrushev brothers, in 1854. The village and settlement belonged to the Ujesd Slobodskoi, from 1796 in the Vyatka governorate . After the factory owners, the place was initially referred to as Wachruschewo , shortened to its current form in the 20th century.
From 1913 a railway line was built from Girsowo (on the line from Vyatka, today Kirow, to Kotlas ) via Wachruschi to Slobodskoi and after delays caused by the First World War and the Russian Civil War, it was finally completed in 1922, which was beneficial for the further economic development of the place. The factory as a place-building company was expanded in the 1930s to create a leather and shoe combination by W. I. Lenin . In 1938 Wachruschi received the status of an urban-type settlement.
