William Smith (swimmer)

William Smith (born May 16, 1924 in Pu'unene , Hawaii - † February 8, 2013 ) was an American swimmer .

He became Olympic champion in both the 400 m freestyle and the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay at the 1948 Olympic Games in London . In 1966 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
