Well-known variants are Yamaha XS 400, XS 400 R Seca, XS 400 Special, XS 400 SG. The basic model was sold almost identical to the models XS 250 and XS 360 . The XS 250, XS 360 and XS 400 models were similar variants for the same base, which was manufactured from 1977 to 1982. The model Yamaha XS 400 Cup was used for racing in Germany as part of the “amateur brand series”. The model history of this series is characterized by model updates and country variants.
