Lecco is an Italian city of c. 47,000 inhabitants set in Lombardy, 50 km north of Milan, and is the capital of the province of Lecco. It lies at the end of the south-eastern branch of Lake Como (the branch named Lake of Lecco). The Prealps rise to the north and east, cut through by the Valsassina of which Lecco marks the southern end.
Ronni Le Tekrø (born Rolf Ågrim Tekrø on October 5, 1963) is a Norwegian guitarist best known for playing with the Norwegian hard rock band TNT and as a solo guitarist.

The lake narrows to form the river Adda, so bridges were built to improve road communications with Como and Milan. There are three bridges crossing the river Adda in Lecco: the Azzone Visconti Bridge (1336-1338), the Kennedy Bridge (1956) and the Alessandro Manzoni Bridge (1985).
Born in Oslo Tekrø moved to Raufoss at a young age, and he has lived there all his life except between 1982 and 1985 when he lived in Trondheim.

Its economy used to be based on industry (iron manufacturers), but now it is mainly tertiary.

The Le Tekrø sound
Le Tekrø plays with more emphasis on volum and hard attack on the strings than distortion. He often uses arpeggios, like in the solo in "Intuition". Le Tekrø is known for his ability to improvise in his own unique style in both fast and slow paces.

History
He covered Alice Cooper's "Welcome To my Nightmare" in his solo album Extra Strong String. He is known for pioneering the "machine gun" guitar playing style (without the use of a pedal). Le Tekrø has collaborated with the Norwegian guitarist and composer Terje Rypdal and has released three albums featuring the fruits of that collaboration. Le Tekrø's vocals tend to be deep, with emphasis on vibrato and falsetto. His inspirations as a guitarist include Steve Hillage, Brian May, Jimmy Page, Brian Robertson, Jimi Hendrix, and Ted Nugent.. He is also credited as the inventor of the "Machine Gun Style"
Archaeological finds demonstrate the presence of Celtic settlement in the area before the arrival of the Romans. The latter built a castrum here and made it an important road hub. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the Lombards captured the town in the 6th century; they were followed by the Franks, who made Lecco the seat of a countship and, later, of a frontier Mark.

Emperor Otto I spent a long time in Lecco, quenching the 964 revolt against the Holy Roman Empire led by Lecco’s count Attone. Later it became a possession of the Milanese monastery of St. Ambrose. Conrad II also stayed in Lecco, in the attempt to free it from the church, but as the result of the ensuing wars the city was subjected by Milan. It subsequently followed the history of the Duchy of Milan and of Lombardy. In the early 16th century it was briefly ruled by the condottiere Gian Giacomo Medici.
In the '80s he was rated one of the best guitarists in the world, and several webpages state he is also on of the most influential ones.

During World War II it was an important centre of the partisan war against the German occupation.
Equipment
Le Tekrø's main guitar live is the so called "Holocaster".
Originally a light pink ESP guitar from the early eighties. The head is signed by close friend Brian Robertson from Thin Lizzy and formerly Motörhead. Le Tekrø uses his black early seventies Fender Stratocaster as a back-up for live performances.

Sport
He is also known for pioneering the use of the Quarterstepper Guitar. This guitar has twice as many frets as normal guitar. Normal guitars have frets like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5..., but the Quarterstepper has frets of 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5... This guitar was invented by Bernie Hamburger of Hamburgerguitar and Le Tekrø himself. He used the guitar for the solo in Wisdom from the Intuition album, and several others recordings. Hamburger also built a 12 string hollow body that Le Tekrø has used on various tours and recordings.
The town’s football team Calcio Lecco 1912 currently play in Serie C1. Their traditional rivalry with the Como team is marked by the so-called Derby del Lario which last took place in the 2001 season when both teams were competing in Serie C1.
In the studio Le Tekrø uses a wide range of effects and amps.

Notable Lecchesi
